Brex is seeking an Underwriting Senior Analyst to join its Operations team in Seattle. You will be responsible for ensuring underwriting processes run smoothly and efficiently for Brex's corporate card products. In this role, you'll assess credit quality, review financial statements, and handle intermediate-level underwriting escalations involving complex cases with multiple contributing factors. Key responsibilities include evaluating customers' ability to repay through bank and financial statement analysis, investigating edge-case scenarios and applicant financials, and identifying process improvements that align underwriting outcomes with organizational goals. You'll track and communicate key metrics such as approval rates, turnaround time, and loss rates to stakeholders. The role requires building and maintaining relationships across Risk, Sales, Engineering, and Product teams to drive underwriting initiatives forward. As a subject matter expert in your underwriting area, you'll execute with high precision while mentoring and up-leveling team members through knowledge sharing, collaboration, and documentation. You'll work cross-functionally to balance customer needs with risk management, communicating technical problems in an elegant and tactful manner. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field, plus 1+ years of experience in underwriting, credit risk, or financial analysis. Bonus experience includes familiarity with banking regulations and global markets, as well as background in fintech, Big 4 accounting, or other financial services.
