Founded in 2009, Paga serves millions of users across Africa and operates from the UK with entities in Nigeria, the US, and Ethiopia. The Treasury Accountant role reports to the Financial Controller and is responsible for overseeing treasury activities with a specialized focus on foreign exchange (FX) management. This is a hands-on position managing the company's cash flow, currency risks, and FX operations to optimize liquidity and capital structure. Key responsibilities include negotiating and executing profitable FX trades, tracking and reconciling FX gains and losses, monitoring exchange rate fluctuations and their impact on the business, managing intercompany FX settlements and reconciliations, and maintaining comprehensive documentation for FX and treasury transactions. The role requires maintaining strong relationships with banks and financial institutions to secure favorable FX rates and services, analyzing cash flow trends and treasury KPIs, and ensuring timely and accurate reporting of FX activities in compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards (GAAP, IFRS). Additional responsibilities include monitoring and executing cross-border payments and transfers with competitive pricing, collaborating with senior leadership on financial market insights and FX risk management, cash flow forecasting and liquidity management, implementing treasury controls and process improvements, and supporting automation and treasury system enhancements. The ideal candidate brings strong FX market expertise and negotiation skills, proficiency in financial modeling, treasury management systems (TMS), and advanced Excel capabilities, with FX trading platform experience highly desirable. Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field, minimum 5 years of treasury management experience with strong FX focus, advanced computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, accounting packages), and completion of mandatory NYSC (Nigerian National Youth Service Corps).
