Astranis is seeking a Trade and Regulatory Compliance Manager to join its legal department and lead the company's trade, ethics, and regulatory compliance programs. The role is anchored in U.S. export controls (ITAR and EAR) but expands into broader corporate regulatory management, partnering closely with engineering, supply chain, HR, and commercial sales teams to build scalable compliance frameworks that mitigate legal risk while driving operational growth.
Key responsibilities include leading the strategy and daily administration of the company's trade and regulatory compliance program; serving as subject matter expert across ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions, FCPA, and FAR/DFARS provisions; classifying complex technical data, hardware, software, and defense services against the Commerce Control List (CCL) and United States Munitions List (USML); evaluating emerging business initiatives and foreign engagements to determine regulatory requirements; preparing and managing export authorizations, licenses, or agreements; drafting and submitting filings through government portals (DECCS and SNAP-R); partnering across teams to manage foreign national access and establish Technology Control Plans (TCPs); supporting regulatory compliance for U.S. Government business including ethics program alignment and mandatory disclosures; leading internal compliance reviews and risk audits; developing and delivering company-wide training on export controls, anti-bribery, and corporate ethics; and tracking changes in federal laws and trade policies to update internal standards.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in business, international relations, legal studies, logistics, engineering, or related field; 4+ years of hands-on regulatory compliance experience with core expertise in U.S. export controls (ITAR/EAR); working knowledge of OFAC sanctions, FCPA standards, and USG contracting compliance (FAR/DFARS); familiarity with U.S. government filing systems (DECCS and SNAP-R); strong ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into actionable guidance; excellent written and oral communication skills with meticulous attention to detail; and ability to prioritize multiple compliance projects in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus qualifications include J.D., Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) certification, prior aerospace/defense/satellite/advanced hardware manufacturing experience, knowledge of USG contracting compliance or CFIUS regulations, and ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. federal security clearance.
