Razorpay, one of India's leading fintech companies processing $180+ billion in annualized transactions, is seeking a Staff Data Privacy Engineer to serve as the operational core of its privacy function. This is a senior individual contributor role that translates the Head of Privacy's strategy into day-to-day technical execution while directly leading a Lead Compliance Engineer and owning the tooling, assessments, and AI governance pipeline. You will operate at the intersection of strategy and execution, building the machinery that makes privacy operations run at scale. This role requires regulatory fluency combined with strong technical and automation capabilities in an AI-first compliance environment. Key responsibilities include: Privacy Programme Management & Regulatory Operations: - Operationalize DPDP Act 2023 and GDPR requirements across Razorpay's products, systems, and vendor stack in coordination with leadership - Manage and continuously improve Record of Processing Activities (RoPA), consent frameworks, data subject rights workflows, and data classification registers - Lead execution of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) with increasing automation - Oversee cross-border data transfer compliance including SCCs, adequacy decisions, and DPDP cross-border transfer rules - Coordinate with leadership on regulatory audits (RBI/SEBI), data privacy reviews, and incident reporting timelines - Enforce consent, purpose limitation, data minimization, and retention policies in production systems Technical Privacy Posture & Assessment Delivery: - Lead infrastructure privacy reviews of cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure) covering access controls, encryption, data residency, and audit logging - Drive vendor and SaaS tool assessments beyond standard questionnaires, reviewing actual data flows, API integrations, and technical configurations - Own technical quality and delivery of privacy assessments The ideal candidate combines deep regulatory knowledge with hands-on technical capability, able to build and automate compliance processes while leading technical teams in a fast-moving fintech environment.
