Salary: USD 185,500 - 344,500 / annual

DTX Pharma, a Novartis Company, seeks a Therapeutic Area Biomarker Director to lead the Cardiovascular and Metabolism (CVM) disease area biomarker strategy and matrix team. This Director-level role is responsible for developing and implementing fit-for-purpose biomarker strategies across the CVM portfolio, with a focus on heart failure, atherosclerosis, obesity, and atrial fibrillation indications. Key responsibilities include: - Delivering clinical project and disease biomarker strategies across early through late-phase development within the CVM portfolio - Leading a dedicated matrixed group of Subject Matter Experts and project team representatives to develop biomarker strategies across the Research-Development-Commercial continuum - Representing Biomarker Development on CVM Disease Area Decision Boards to identify and drive cardiovascular and metabolic disease mechanistic biology and precision medicine approaches - Leading strategic translational data working groups to integrate and analyze large-scale patient multi-modal datasets (omics, imaging, digital) to identify new indications, endpoints, and responsive patient subpopulations - Representing biomarker line functions in Therapeutic Area Line Function committees for clinical protocol development - Staying current on clinical, disease, biology, and scientific literature and competitor data - Collaborating with the global BMD organization (150+ associates) across genetics, genomics, molecular/cellular biology, digital devices, imaging, and data sciences - Designing and presenting RDC biomarker strategy for transitioning and mature assets Required qualifications: - MD, MD/PhD, or PhD degree plus additional PhD/postdoc or equivalent research experience - Deep understanding of cardiovascular and metabolic disease epidemiology, particularly Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ASCVD) - Scientific excellence with recognized high-quality publications and clinical/biological expertise in cardiovascular and metabolic diseases (Board certification preferred) - 5+ years of independent leadership experience and external leadership in consortia and/or health authority initiatives - Proven success leading multidisciplinary matrix teams across pharma/biotech, academic institutions, or commercial functions with mature biomarker strategy experience - Ability to own entire portfolio sections and phase packages - Strong interpersonal skills, presence, and ability to influence senior leadership - Significant relevant experience in quantitative expertise (biostatistics, bioinformatics, statistical genetics, clinical imaging, machine learning, data science) - Experience interpreting and publishing omics data studies - Fluent in English; additional languages (German, French, Italian) useful but not required This hybrid role is based in Cambridge, MA, with flexibility to work from Basel, Switzerland.
