Halter is a venture-backed agtech company providing virtual fencing technology to enable farmers and ranchers to run more productive and sustainable operations. The company is backed by tier-1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, and DCVC.
As Territory Manager for the South West Minnesota region, you will drive new business growth and ensure customer success within your designated territory. This is a hands-on, field-based sales role requiring frequent travel throughout your territory.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prospecting and pipeline development through outbound lead generation, attending cattle auctions, and engaging with local livestock associations and industry events like CattleCon.
- In-field sales activities: meeting customers on ranches, in pastures, and at kitchen tables to demonstrate Halter's value proposition. You'll be comfortable working on horseback or in side-by-sides, helping customers understand how virtual fencing can transform their operations.
- Expanding existing customer relationships by identifying upsell opportunities and increasing adoption across their herds.
- Managing a high-growth sales pipeline and hitting ambitious territory targets while maintaining disciplined lead qualification.
- Post-sale account management and customer onboarding, ensuring smooth transitions from sales to implementation and ongoing customer satisfaction.
- Serving as Halter's primary on-the-ground representative and face of the territory, building relationships with ranchers, local agencies, and regional agricultural groups.
- Gathering and advocating for customer feedback to inform product development and sales strategy.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Support, and Customer Onboarding teams to resolve issues and optimize the customer experience.
- Contributing to the evolution of US sales processes and strategy as the company scales.
Your day-to-day will blend prospecting, in-field customer engagement, relationship building, administrative pipeline management, and strategic territory ownership. You'll balance new business development with expanding existing accounts and ensuring long-term customer success.
Requirements:
- Ranching or cattle operations experience; deep understanding of the industry's unique challenges and customer pain points.
- Proven sales track record with experience creating new business opportunities, value-based negotiation, and building lasting customer relationships.
- Territory management experience, ideally in agriculture or technology, with demonstrated ability to balance sales growth and customer success.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; results-driven, motivated, and adaptable in high-stakes environments.
- Problem-solving and collaboration skills; resourcefulness and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently within your territory.
- Proactive mindset; comfort with autonomy and ownership of territory outcomes.
Bonus qualifications:
- Familiarity with precision agriculture or virtual fencing technologies.
- Customer-facing experience in agriculture technology.
- Background selling SaaS solutions in B2B environments.
