Ocient is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to create documentation for the OcientAIQ Unified Data Platform, with a focus on data loading functionality. You will partner closely with the Director of Documentation and technical subject matter experts to develop clear, user-centric written content that helps customers understand and implement the system.
In this role, you will own the full documentation lifecycle: writing technical content by collaborating with SMEs to understand requirements, managing internal timelines and review cycles, and delivering high-quality materials on schedule. You'll anticipate potential issues, communicate proactively with stakeholders about progress and blockers, and work cross-functionally to ensure documentation requirements are met efficiently.
You are detail-oriented, organized, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment. You're self-motivated, able to juggle multiple projects at different stages, and comfortable drawing insights from diverse technical teams. You possess strong writing and presentation skills, appreciate precision (yes, the Oxford comma matters), and can adapt as the documentation function scales.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Math; 6+ years in the software industry; 3+ years of technical writing experience; proven experience writing about databases or data warehouses. You must be a team player and self-starter with excellent communication skills, strong organizational ability, and a genuine passion for working with highly technical engineers and product managers.
Ideal candidates will also have AI proficiency in technical writing contexts, familiarity with agentic workflows, SQL, Markdown, docs-as-code practices, and the ability to create technical diagrams. A proactive, problem-solving mindset and excitement about supporting innovation with a forward-thinking technical product are essential.
