Formlabs is seeking a Field Technical Support Engineer to serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers across the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). This role involves 80%+ travel and covers the complete customer lifecycle from equipment installation through ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Customer Training (On-Site)
- Travel to customer sites to unpack, install, commission, and calibrate 3D printing systems
- Conduct structured on-site training sessions teaching customers how to operate machinery, utilize software, and perform basic maintenance
- Perform live product demonstrations to build customer confidence and ensure teams are fully up to speed
Break-Fix & Maintenance (On-Site)
- Respond rapidly to customer downtime situations, traveling on short notice to perform urgent repairs
- Manage a schedule of annual preventative maintenance visits, targeting 90-day service windows for warrantied customers
- Diagnose electromechanical issues using critical thinking to achieve single-visit resolutions and minimize customer downtime
Logistics & Reporting
- Execute high-volume activity across the region
- Independently manage complex travel logistics (flights, trains, hotels, rental cars) and submit expenses on time
- Maintain detailed records of installations, training sessions, and repairs in Salesforce

Requirements:
- Based in Frankfurt, Berlin, or Munich (highly preferred for hub connectivity)
- Energized by travel and willing to be on the road 80%+ of the time
- Strong technical background in electromechanical/hardware systems
- Fluency in German and English (both C1 level); ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly in both languages
- Valid driver's license required
Bonus Skills:
- Fluency in French
- Passion for 3D printing and emerging technologies
- Experience in rapidly-growing startup environments
