Rippling is seeking a Technical Storyteller to identify and communicate the most compelling technical narratives emerging from the product and engineering teams, particularly around AI capabilities. This role sits at the intersection of technical writing, product strategy, and executive communications.
You will work closely with the Chief Product Officer, engineering leaders, and other executives to uncover what is genuinely novel or differentiated about Rippling's work, then translate those insights into clear, compelling content for customers, investors, media, and the broader market. You will write blog posts, LinkedIn and X content, technical explainers, launch announcements, and executive communications. You will also help prepare senior leaders for podcasts, speaking engagements, and media interviews.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying and developing the most interesting technical stories from product and engineering teams, especially AI-related work
- Working directly with engineers and product leads to understand what is novel, differentiated, or technically impressive
- Writing external content in the voice of the CEO, CPO, CTO, and other senior leaders
- Partnering with Product Marketing to build a consistent external narrative around Rippling's ambitious technical work
- Proactively building and maintaining an editorial pipeline by surfacing ideas, shaping angles, and recommending channels
- Collaborating with technical leaders to ensure accuracy and credibility before content goes public
- Operating independently across engineering, product, marketing, and executive teams
Rippling is a San Francisco-based HR, IT, and Finance platform that has raised $1.4B+ from top-tier investors including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, and Sequoia. The company enables businesses to manage the entire employee lifecycle—from onboarding through payroll, benefits, and IT provisioning—in a single system.
Requirements:
- Technical sophistication sufficient to recognize why topics like evals, agent harnesses, field clustering, model architecture, and infrastructure choices are interesting; ability to ask engineers the right questions
- Exceptional writing ability that makes complex technical ideas clear, concrete, and interesting without oversimplifying
- Ability to speak credibly to engineers and technical leaders without necessarily being an engineer yourself
- Strong editorial judgment: knowing what is noteworthy, what will resonate externally, and how to extract the story from technical details
- Comfortable operating independently, proactively hunting for material rather than waiting for assignments
- High precision in language and strong instincts for accurately representing technical work in public
- Ideally, experience in technical journalism, developer or AI content, product marketing for deeply technical products, or writing for technical executives
