OpenTeams, founded by Travis Oliphant (creator of NumPy and SciPy), is seeking a Technical Project Manager to join the Project Success team. The company helps enterprises and governments build AI infrastructure they control, govern, and evolve.
This is a technical collaboration role, not a traditional project coordination position. You will work alongside OpenTeams engineers, client stakeholders, and account leaders to understand design-level concepts, capture requirements and decisions, and keep technical execution aligned with client needs. You won't direct engineering work from the outside; instead, you'll partner closely with teams designing and building solutions, translating and structuring complex information so technical and business stakeholders remain aligned.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with engineers and clients to understand technical objectives; participating in technical discussions to capture requirements, decisions, dependencies, risks, and tradeoffs across infrastructure, data, security, and AI/ML; helping clients clarify data ownership and access; tracking constraints involving data sovereignty, on-premises infrastructure, air-gapped deployment, security, and compliance; maintaining shared visibility into project plans and status; building trusted relationships with client stakeholders; ensuring technical deliverables align with requirements; identifying and resolving risks early; supporting transitions from implementation to operation; and sharing best practices across the team.
Required experience includes partnering with engineering teams in technical, customer-facing environments such as technical project management, consulting, or delivery leadership. You must be able to participate in design-level technical conversations and accurately capture requirements and tradeoffs. Fluency with developer tooling is essential—comfort reading pull requests, writing scripts, and using AI coding assistants. Python and SQL are a plus. Technical breadth across cloud/on-premises infrastructure, data engineering, AI/ML systems, software security, or DevOps is required, with meaningful depth in at least one area. Strong communication skills for engineering, business, and executive audiences are critical, along with experience coordinating across technical teams and stakeholders, identifying technical risks, and working within enterprise constraints such as security reviews and procurement processes.
