Baseten is seeking a hands-on Capacity Operations Manager to own the operational and analytical supply side of its GPU fleet serving mission-critical inference for leading AI companies like Cursor, Notion, and Abridge. This is an individual contributor role focused on GPU fleet lifecycle management, health monitoring, observability, and utilization optimization across neocloud and bare metal environments.
You will drive execution through clear processes, metrics, reporting, vendor coordination, and cross-functional alignment—not through people management. Core responsibilities include: maintaining live reconciliation of contracted vs. provisioned vs. healthy vs. utilized capacity broken out by supplier and cluster; driving suppliers to keep the maximum GPU fleet online and healthy; owning replacement SLAs, mean time to repair (MTTR), and RMA cycle times for every in-scope supplier; monitoring SLA performance against contract terms, filing and pursuing credit claims, and driving remediation plans when suppliers underperform; and ensuring internal stakeholders are aware of supplier maintenance activities impacting availability.
The role requires 5–10+ years in infrastructure within compute lifecycle management, ideally in hyperscale, cloud, or large-scale compute environments. You must have direct experience managing GPU, server, or data center hardware supplier relationships, understanding fleet health, RMA processes, and how contracted capacity differs from delivered capacity. You should be highly analytical, comfortable pulling your own data, building reports, and generating insights independently. Strong cross-functional collaboration skills are essential, as you'll work regularly with finance, infrastructure/engineering, legal, and security teams.
Preferred qualifications include experience at hyperscalers, neo cloud providers, or AI infrastructure companies; familiarity with GPU hardware lifecycles (NVIDIA H100/H200/GB200 class systems), power/thermal constraints, and compute supply chain dynamics; and experience running formal supplier corrective actions.
