Linxup is a fast-growing fleet management and IoT company serving over 30,000 businesses with GPS tracking, dash cam, and asset management solutions. Founded in 2004 and based in St. Louis, MO, the company helps field service, construction, trucking, and transportation enterprises improve safety, security, productivity, and efficiency across their mobile workers and equipment.
You will own the product strategy and execution for the technical layer where Linxup's software meets hardware. This is a hybrid role spanning infrastructure, platform, and core product—not a pure backend or infrastructure position.
Key responsibilities include:
**APIs & Partner Integrations:** Own the public API roadmap and partner ecosystem built on it. Define endpoints, payloads, authentication, rate limits, versioning, and deprecation strategies. Work directly with partner developers and integration engineers to scope, launch, and unblock integrations. Treat developer experience as a product surface: clear documentation, predictable payloads, useful error messages, sandbox access, and sensible defaults.
**Device Data & Telemetry:** Own product requirements for ingesting data from GPS trackers, dash cams, and asset trackers deployed in the field. Partner with engineering on how device data is normalized, enriched, stored, and exposed to customers and downstream features. Navigate real-world hardware challenges: intermittent cellular coverage, buffered and out-of-order messages, power and duty-cycle tradeoffs, and missing or ambiguous data. Define reporting, alerting, and rules behaviors customers rely on. Build operational visibility into device state, connectivity, and firmware versions across 250,000+ deployed devices.
**Core Product & Agile Execution:** Own initiatives in core web and mobile products alongside platform work—the features customers touch daily. Write clear user stories and acceptance criteria, own and prioritize the backlog, and run refinement and sprint ceremonies with your engineering team. Partner with QA to define test cases and validate solutions against real device and API behavior. Make scope and sequencing calls and explain tradeoffs credibly to engineers and executives.
**Cross-functional & Customer Work:** Engage directly with customers, partners, and internal teams to understand needs and validate solutions. Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences without losing precision.
You don't need to write production code, but you must be the kind of product owner who reads API responses, runs queries, and examines device logs before forming opinions. You understand that good software delivers ease of use and makes complicated things feel simple. You can hold several parallel workstreams without losing focus, are comfortable with ambiguity and hardware realities you don't fully control, and have genuine empathy for customers and a keen sense of UX.
**Requirements:**
- Experience as a product owner or product manager in technical/infrastructure or hardware-adjacent domains
- Strong technical acumen: ability to read and understand API responses, database queries, and device logs
- Experience with APIs, integrations, or developer platforms
- Familiarity with IoT, hardware, or embedded systems (or willingness to learn quickly)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences
- Comfort with ambiguity, parallel workstreams, and hardware constraints outside your direct control
- Demonstrated empathy for customers and strong UX sensibility
- Experience running agile ceremonies, writing user stories, and managing product backlogs
