As a Technical Lead on the Defense team, you will lead a small team of engineers while remaining hands-on. Your responsibilities span building innovative products from scratch (0 to 1) and scaling existing systems (1 to n). You'll work in a fast-paced environment setting technical standards, collaborating with platform engineers, domain experts, deployment strategists, and end users to solve real problems that improve airspace safety and decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a small engineering team through design and delivery
- Hands-on technical implementation across full product lifecycle
- Cross-functional collaboration to translate ambiguous requirements into shipped software
- Working directly with customers and domain experts to understand and anticipate needs
- Operating independently in a dynamic environment, driving work to completion
Required qualifications:
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Rust and Python preferred)
- Ability to leverage modern LLM tools to accelerate development and enhance code quality
- Strong partnership and communication skills across teams and with customers
- Comfort operating independently and driving work without waiting for direction
- Curiosity and commitment to learning customer domains deeply
- Ability to travel
- Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance
