Salary: USD 97,875 - 291,600 / annual

Outschool is a fast-growing edtech marketplace connecting learners with teachers globally. The company has served over 1.5M learners with $100M+ in annual bookings and is expanding from homeschool enrichment into academic learning with AI-powered features. Outschool is hiring full-stack Software Engineers to develop and improve products for parents, learners, and educators. The role emphasizes an agentic-first development paradigm, with a wide variety of high-impact challenges spanning smart UI, personalization, AI assistance, data optimization, tooling, and platform infrastructure. Core responsibilities include driving complex engineering initiatives across product innovation areas; partnering with Product, Design, Data, and Engineering leadership on roadmap priorities and technical strategy; adopting an AI-native development mindset with fully agentic workflows; and for senior roles, mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction. Engineers participate in standups, sprint planning, retros, production deployments, and on-call rotations. Desired experience includes professional software engineering background with proficiency in TypeScript, React, Node.js, GraphQL, and/or PostgreSQL. The company values demonstrated AI-native development expertise and, for senior roles, proven technical leadership including setting direction, making architectural decisions, and raising team standards. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for translating technical complexity for engineers, product partners, and leadership. Preferred qualifications include edtech or product experience building for learners, educators, or families; familiarity with search, discovery, personalization, AI, tooling, data insights, or payment systems; marketplace technology background; and experience at fast-paced startups or high-growth companies. Compensation is location-based. Canadian candidates: $90,000–$229,500 CAD annually. US Tier 1 (SF Bay Area, NYC, Seattle): $130,500–$291,600. US Tier 2 (rest of CA, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Austin, Portland): $110,925–$247,860. US Tier 3 (all other): $97,875–$218,700. Role includes equity and benefits.
