Expo is the open-source React Native framework and cloud platform for building universal apps for Android, iOS, and the web. The company provides the Expo SDK, Expo Router, Expo CLI, and Expo Application Services (EAS) for the full app lifecycle. Expo sees 2M+ weekly npm downloads, 100K+ weekly active developers, 50K+ GitHub stars, and is used by teams at Brex, Coinbase, Flexport, RBI, SpaceX, and Sweetgreen. In this role, you will create technical content that meets developers where they search, learn, and ask questions. You'll write tutorials, guides, blog posts, sample apps, and problem-first explainers in Expo's education hub. Every example you build runs on real devices against the current SDK before shipping. Key responsibilities: - Ship hands-on technical content weekly: case studies, how-to guides, migration guides, comparison pages, and blog posts about building mobile apps with AI and Expo. - Own the education hub content plan, writing problem-first explainers (what React Native is, how cross-platform development works, how over-the-air updates work, mobile CI/CD setup) and routing readers to the right Expo product. - Turn SEO and AEO findings into content using query-to-content gap analysis; structure pages for search engines and LLMs to cite them; keep top pages fresh. - Contribute content for product launches, owning execution of getting-started guides, launch posts, and case studies. Work with product marketing and engineers to hit rough edges before users do. - Write with engineers: draft video scripts and outlines with Expo engineers and DevRel for YouTube tutorials and launch walkthroughs; turn conference talks into blog posts. - Close the gap between docs and real use by working with the docs team on docs-adjacent guides and routing product friction back to the right team. - Tie content to outcomes: put tracked CTAs on every piece, report signups and product adoption in HubSpot, and use data to decide what to write next. You will report to Dan Kelly, Head of Marketing, and work day-to-day with DevRel, the docs team, product, and engineers. Your work is measured by signups, EAS activation, and top-of-funnel pipeline that start with your published content. Requirements: - You have some experience building an app with Expo. - 3+ years writing technical content for developers (tutorials, guides, docs, or technical blog posts), with a public portfolio. - Demonstrated understanding of how SEO works for developer content and how LLMs and answer engines choose sources to cite. - Experience using data to decide what to write and connecting content to signups. - Daily use of AI tools with specific knowledge of where they help and where they fail. - Plain, precise writing with ability to cut words and keep what matters. Nice to have: - Shipped an app to the App Store or Google Play. - Video experience: on camera, screen recording, or YouTube scripting. - Experience building with LLM APIs, MCP, or agent tooling. - Familiarity with HubSpot, Sanity, or SEO tools like Semrush or Ahrefs.
