As a Tax Analyst II at Rocket Companies, you will support federal tax compliance and tax accounting functions for a publicly traded fintech leader. This role involves preparing and analyzing book-to-tax adjustments and supporting workpapers to calculate taxable income for multiple legal entities on monthly, quarterly, and annual bases. You will coordinate with accounting and finance teams to gather, validate, and analyze financial data required for tax compliance activities, and support the preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns to ensure timely and accurate filings. Key responsibilities include assisting with quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740, including current and deferred tax analyses. You will research and document federal and state tax issues, regulations, and legislation to support compliance and planning activities. The role also involves preparing responses to tax notices and assisting with federal and state income tax audits as needed. You will maintain tax records, workpapers, and supporting documentation in accordance with internal controls and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with 2–4 years of tax experience within a public accounting firm or corporate tax department. You should have experience supporting federal and/or state income tax compliance and tax return preparation, familiarity with income tax provisions and ASC 740, and proficiency with tax compliance and provision software such as OneSource or CorpTax. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Preferred qualifications include exposure to federal income tax audits, tax research, or tax planning activities; experience with tax research platforms such as Thomson Reuters Checkpoint or Bloomberg Tax; familiarity with Alteryx or other automation and AI-enabled solutions; CPA certification or progress toward licensure; and a Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting.
