Plug is an automotive fintech startup building a marketplace for electric vehicles. Founded in 2023 by former Tesla executives and backed by Lightspeed Venture Partners, the company has facilitated $100M in EV sales and is positioning itself as an AI-native operator in Los Angeles.
You will own full-lifecycle recruiting across engineering, operations, and go-to-market functions. This is a deliberate end-to-end role: you manage intake through offer acceptance without handing off to sourcers or coordinators. You'll carry 8–12 open requisitions, report to the VP of People, and partner with a Senior Recruiter on calibration and strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Full-lifecycle recruiting: intake meetings, sourcing strategy, screening, interview design, debriefs, offer construction, negotiation, and close. You prioritize your portfolio against business urgency.
- Hiring manager partnership: run structured kickoffs to align scope, must-haves, sourcing strategy, panel, and timeline. Advise on market realities, leveling, and compensation. Keep panels engaged through weekly pipeline reviews.
- Proactive sourcing: direct outreach, referrals, and market mapping—not inbound triage. Build pipelines for recurring and hard-to-fill roles ahead of need.
- Interview quality and close: design structured loops with clear rubrics and scorecards, coach interviewers on evidence-based interviewing, facilitate debriefs for fast decisions, own compensation conversations and offer closes.
- Build automation systems: own Ashby workflows, self-schedule links, interview plans with pre-assigned panels, stage-triggered notifications, templated outreach and rejections, and scorecards. Use AI for market mapping, target company lists, intake synthesis, screen guides, debrief summaries, and first-draft outreach. You have a tool budget and real say in adoption. Screening decisions, candidate ranking, compensation conversations, closing, and calibration remain human.
- Candidate experience: own every touchpoint from first outreach through offer to ensure Plug's brand is represented credibly.
- Data and reporting: keep Ashby clean and current, surface funnel metrics to hiring managers and leadership.
- Support interviewer training and new hire onboarding as processes mature.
First 90 days: by day 30, be fully ramped in Ashby with kickoffs completed on every open requisition and first offer extended. By day 60, pipeline health visible to every hiring manager, scheduling largely automated. By day 90, own your functions end-to-end with minimal oversight and a written sourcing-and-screening playbook. Monthly review metrics: intake to first slate, scheduling touches per candidate, and outreach reply rate.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of full-lifecycle recruiting in a high-growth tech environment
- Track record of owning searches intake through close without a sourcer or coordinator carrying pieces
- Experience recruiting both technical and go-to-market roles (engineering or ML plus sales, ops, or marketing)
- Hands-on Ashby experience required; ability to build and maintain workflows, interview plans, templates, and reporting
- Strong sourcing skills; ability to find and engage passive candidates directly
- Experience advising hiring managers on leveling, compensation, and search strategy with confidence to disagree
- Evidence of automating your own support layer (self-scheduling, templated workflows, or AI tooling in production)
- Comfort in a lean team wearing multiple hats including your own coordination
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to represent Plug credibly to senior candidates
- Currently based in Los Angeles area and able to work onsite in Sawtelle
NICE TO HAVE:
- Marketplace, consumer, or two-sided platform recruiting experience
- Experience building or delivering interviewer training
- Exposure to employer branding or talent marketing
- Experience in a small or scaling TA function rather than a large, highly specialized organization
