Hadrian is building autonomous factories to reindustrialize America, combining AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing to help aerospace and defense companies build rockets, satellites, aircraft, and mission-critical systems up to 10x faster and at lower cost. Following a $1.37B Series D at $7.87B valuation, the company is rapidly expanding manufacturing capabilities and scaling its Factory-as-a-Service platform.
You will own the design and delivery of equipment solutions that bridge core manufacturing processes and factory operations. This is an ownership role where you define systems and are accountable for delivering them on timeline, on cost, and for system performance. You'll guide teams through technical decisions, partner with stakeholders to ensure the right equipment is built, and carry projects from concept through performance verification. You'll make critical tradeoffs between performance vs. reliability, simplicity vs. capability, and speed vs. cost in a fast-paced environment where requirements evolve rapidly.
Key responsibilities include defining equipment and area design requirements, leading a cross-functional team (mechanical, controls, software, build) through the full design process, owning requirements and chairing design reviews, helping build frameworks for how Hadrian defines and deploys internally developed equipment, and partnering with Factory Development and Production teams to ensure equipment can be deployed as turn-key systems. You are accountable not just for identifying problems but for working across teams to solve them.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (electro-mechanical preferred) or equivalent experience; 8+ years designing and deploying automated industrial equipment; proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, NX, or comparable); experience within an equipment development or similar design lifecycle; track record spanning risk assessments, specification creation, design reviews, and build cycles; strong collaboration skills across mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers and build technicians.
Desirable experience includes commissioning and manufacturing environments, hands-on robotics/PLC/motion control systems, understanding of core manufacturing technologies (pneumatics, hydraulics, welding, machining, assembly), and comfort in fast-paced environments with aggressive goals. ITAR compliance required: must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
