Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems for global connectivity, protection, and deep-space exploration. The Neutron team is responsible for developing and deploying Rocket Lab's new large-capacity rocket, Neutron, along with its associated launch and test sites. This role is based in Auckland, New Zealand, where the team designs, tests, and manufactures Neutron's structures and components, and operates test facilities including the Archimedes engine test site.
As a Systems Engineer focused on Configuration & Change Management, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining configuration control processes for the Neutron program. This includes developing and implementing configuration management plans, managing baseline documentation, tracking and controlling changes to hardware and software configurations, and ensuring traceability across the program lifecycle. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and program management teams to ensure configuration integrity and compliance with aerospace standards.
Key responsibilities include: creating and maintaining configuration management procedures and tools; managing configuration items and baselines; processing and evaluating engineering change requests; maintaining configuration documentation and records; supporting configuration audits and reviews; and ensuring adherence to configuration management best practices across the Neutron program. You will also coordinate with cross-functional teams to communicate configuration changes and their impacts.
This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong attention to detail, understanding of systems engineering principles, and experience with aerospace or complex hardware programs. You will contribute directly to the success of Neutron's development and deployment.
