Commonwealth Fusion Systems, the world's largest fusion energy company, is seeking a Supply Chain Operations Supervisor to lead warehouse and materials management operations at their Devens, MA facility. This is a hands-on management role within a high-tempo, rapidly evolving research and manufacturing environment.
You will direct daily warehouse and dock operations, including material handling using forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks. You'll oversee overhead crane and hoist operations for moving heavy, high-value equipment, interpret and enforce engineered lift plans and rigging procedures, and conduct pre-lift risk assessments. Inbound dock operations fall under your purview—receiving, PO verification, unloading, cargo inspection, and cross-docking coordination with internal teams.
Material flow optimization is critical: you'll establish efficient distribution patterns and staging layouts using lean methodologies and pull systems. Inventory accuracy is maintained through leading pick/pack operations, cycle counts, physical inventories, and ERP (Odoo) transaction logging. You'll coordinate with Quality Assurance to identify, document, and quarantine non-conforming parts.
Safety is paramount. You'll enforce all protocols across warehouse, staging, and loading dock areas, maintain clean environments, correct unsafe behaviors, and ensure HazMat and MSDS compliance. You directly supervise, train, coach, and motivate team staff, managing resource allocation, scheduling, shift assignments, timecard approvals, and performance evaluations. You'll also hire and train new employees.
Continuous improvement is expected: identify and execute 5S projects to streamline bottlenecks and optimize space utilization. Track key operational metrics and report status to management.
Required: High school diploma, 5+ years in material handling/inventory/shipping & receiving, 5+ years ERP experience, 2+ years direct supervisor experience managing floor-level personnel, manufacturing environment experience, strong computer skills (G-Suite), problem-solving ability, and exceptional communication skills. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, operate material handling equipment, and work in environments with heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead, high voltage, and cryogenics.
