Perplexity AI is seeking a Technical Customer Success Manager to own customer relationships across their API Platform, which serves AI-native startups and large technology companies building with Perplexity's search, models, and agent orchestration capabilities.
In this role, you will manage a portfolio of developer and technical customers through their entire lifecycle—from evaluation and onboarding through production deployment and expansion. You'll combine technical fluency with relationship management to understand each customer's use case, help them overcome adoption barriers, and establish clear paths to production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning end-to-end customer relationships, building trust with developers, technical leaders, and business stakeholders
- Analyzing account and product usage data to identify adoption risks, technical blockers, and growth opportunities
- Investigating technical questions using API documentation and usage data, coordinating with Engineering and Support on complex issues
- Leading customer-facing programs such as API endpoint migrations, product rollouts, and technical enablement
- Managing communications for product changes, deprecations, and incidents in partnership with technical teams
- Building and continuously improving the API customer success playbook, including onboarding workflows, health signals, and escalation paths
- Partnering with Sales on renewals and expansion, using adoption metrics and business outcomes to demonstrate value
- Bringing customer feedback into product planning and collaborating with Developer Relations on documentation and enablement
As an early member of the customer success team, you'll have direct exposure to how AI products are built and scaled, and you'll help shape Perplexity's customer support programs as the business grows.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 4+ years of experience in customer success, technical account management, solutions engineering, or related customer-facing roles at technology companies
- Technical fluency: comfortable reading API documentation, making API requests, interpreting responses and errors, and discussing integration questions with developers
- Proven track record of driving adoption, retention, or growth across a customer portfolio with clear ownership of outcomes
- Experience creating or improving customer programs, playbooks, or cross-functional processes (not just operating established ones)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain technical issues clearly and communicate transparently during uncertain situations
- Sound judgment in balancing account needs with strategic projects, setting priorities, and executing without detailed direction
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with APIs, developer tools, cloud infrastructure, or usage-based products
- Familiarity with AI applications, search, retrieval, or agent systems, including how customers evaluate quality, latency, and cost
- Working knowledge of Python or SQL for reproducing issues, analyzing usage, or automating recurring work
