AppDirect is a subscription commerce platform enabling digital entrepreneurs worldwide to sell products through any channel on any device. The company is building out its tax function and seeking a motivated tax professional to help establish and shape this newly created department within a multinational organization. In this supervisory role, you will own Canadian corporate income tax return preparation and management for the group. You'll support U.S. and International Tax Consultants on non-Canadian corporate returns, prepare global tax provisions, and oversee indirect tax filings. Key responsibilities include conducting tax research on Canadian and U.S. implications of new legislation related to cross-border activities, developing and implementing internal corporate tax compliance processes, and managing tax records. You will coordinate with tax authorities on information requests, audits, proposed assessments, and adjustment requests. You'll ensure tax compliance through internal controls, recommend measures to optimize controls and reduce corporate tax risks, and provide support on tax due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions. The role includes providing timely support to internal stakeholders and assuming supervisory responsibilities over certain processes as assigned by the Director of Tax. You bring a solid foundation in Canadian corporate taxation with 3–5 years of relevant tax experience. A Bachelor's degree in Taxation, Accounting, Management, or Business Administration is required; a CPA designation is an asset. Exposure to U.S. and international tax is valuable, but the company welcomes candidates eager to learn and will provide mentorship and training. You are comfortable rolling up your sleeves for day-to-day execution while contributing to process improvement and best practices development. You thrive in collaborative environments, communicate effectively with finance and non-finance stakeholders, and demonstrate strong judgment, initiative, and autonomy.
