OpenAI is seeking a Strategy & Operations Lead to drive operational excellence and regional execution across India. Reporting to the General Manager for India, this leader will translate global strategy into regional execution, build scalable operating systems, and ensure the business scales with consistency and rigor across markets and functions.
Key responsibilities include defining and implementing India's operating strategy aligned with APAC and global objectives; driving execution across key markets while adapting to local needs and regulations; partnering with global leadership on resource allocation and initiative prioritization; establishing KPIs, reporting frameworks, and operating cadences; building scalable processes across consumer, product, partnerships, and other business lines; identifying and addressing operational gaps through continuous improvement; supporting market entry strategies and operational readiness; enabling strategic partnerships through strong operational frameworks; building and mentoring a high-performing regional operations team; fostering accountability and operational rigor; and developing leadership bench strength.
The ideal candidate brings significant experience leading regional or international operations in fast-scaling, complex business environments; strong strategic and operational judgment with ability to translate goals into execution plans; experience operating across multiple markets, functions, and business lines, ideally within India; a track record of building scalable operating systems and metrics; strong cross-functional leadership and influence with senior stakeholders; excellent business judgment with bias toward action; experience supporting market expansion and regional growth; strong people leadership and team-building skills; comfort operating in ambiguity; high integrity and collaborative leadership style; and strong communication skills.
The role is based in Bangalore with a hybrid model requiring 3 days in office. This is a strategic opportunity to shape OpenAI's operational foundation in one of its most important regions during a period of significant growth and expansion.
