VEIR is a superconducting power delivery systems company founded in 2019, headquartered in Woburn, Massachusetts. The company designs and manufactures next-generation superconducting technology for AI data centers, delivering ~10× higher power density than conventional solutions.
You will own sourcing and supplier management for the Liquid Nitrogen (LIN) Cooling System—a technically demanding, cryogenics-driven subsystem with long-lead, often sole-sourced components critical to product reliability. This role runs the complete sourcing program, focused on reducing lead times through multi-sourcing strategy, supplier development, and strategic supplier agreements.
Key responsibilities include:
**Sourcing Strategy & Supplier Management**: Own the sourcing strategy and supplier base for LIN cooling system commodities (pumps, skids, vessels, cryogenic components). Develop and execute multi-sourcing strategy to reduce long lead times on critical components. Identify, evaluate, and qualify fabricators and contract manufacturers as VEIR scales.
**NPI & Stage-Gate Execution**: Own key sourcing deliverables across VEIR's NPI stage-gate process—candidate identification, RFI/RFQ development with Engineering, supplier audits, PPAP quality support, and process validation. Move cooling system suppliers from qualification through production readiness.
**Engineering Collaboration**: Partner closely with Engineering on RFI/RFQ development, DFM iteration with candidate suppliers, and design feedback loops. Support sample builds and ensure manufacturing requirements and critical-to-quality specs are incorporated into production RFQs.
**Quality & Compliance**: Work with Quality to support supplier PPAP submissions (Part Submission Warrant, dimensional reports, process capability, material certifications). Conduct or join supplier site audits and technical capability assessments.
**Cross-Functional Coordination**: Coordinate across Product, Commercial, Project, Finance, Procurement, and Logistics teams. Support process validation and run-at-rate studies to confirm supplier capacity and process capability against forecast. Lead supplier negotiations and agreements.
In the first 3 months, you'll learn VEIR's LIN cooling system architecture and current supplier base, build relationships with key suppliers, support supplier development activities, partner on RFI/RFQ development, and join at least one supplier site visit. By 6 months, you'll own the full sourcing strategy, develop detailed production RFQs, support PPAP submissions, drive multi-sourcing and second-source qualification, and lead supplier negotiations.
