Skydio is the world leader in autonomous flight technology for drones used in defense, public safety, and enterprise applications. The company is seeking a Strategic Telecom Alliance Manager to spearhead partnerships with leading telecom carriers, ensuring Skydio drones can operate with reliable connectivity wherever customers need them. In this role, you will develop and execute the company's strategy for engaging with telecom providers across the US, North America, and internationally. You'll translate customer connectivity needs into partnership agreements with carriers, negotiating terms that enable network access, sufficient data connectivity, and sustainable business relationships. Key responsibilities include understanding customer requirements for in-flight data connectivity, building business models to support connectivity access, and ensuring drones meet certification standards for both regulators and telecom operators. You will establish field relationships between telecom partners and Skydio's field teams to support major events and incidents. This role requires strong analytical skills to manage complex, overlapping projects and clear communication across both internal teams and external partner organizations. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated track record of translating customer needs into priorities and driving implementation through complex projects, product development, or business relationship building. You should have a technical background (engineering, computer science, telecommunications, or scientific field) and experience managing complex technical requirements. You're comfortable breaking down multifaceted challenges into meaningful steps and communicating progress clearly. Nice-to-haves include prior experience at a growth-stage startup, familiarity with wireless communication concepts (bit rates, quality of service, network operations), telecommunications industry experience (at carriers like AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile or suppliers like Cisco, Nokia, Ericsson), and interest in applying 5G features like dynamic slicing and low-latency communications to airborne devices. This is a full-time, office-based position requiring 5 days per week onsite at Skydio's San Mateo headquarters.
