Scale's Robotics business unit is seeking a Strategic Projects Lead to architect and execute operational roadmaps driving $XXM+ in net-new revenue. This executive-facing role bridges operations, engineering strategy, and product, owning the end-to-end program business for high-impact egocentric data collection initiatives.
Key responsibilities include: serving as program business owner for data quality, operational efficiency, P&L margins, and revenue delivery; translating complex ML requirements into scalable physical data collection specifications that improve VLM/VLA model performance; building and optimizing project management office (PMO) rigor with milestone tracking and risk-mitigation frameworks; partnering with executive stakeholders across Engineering, Product, Finance, and Go-to-Market; functionally leading and mentoring a matrixed team of Operations Program Managers and Associates; training and managing global teams of data collectors with hardware/software troubleshooting protocols for egocentric collection devices (smart glasses, sensors, rigs); building advanced analytics and dashboards for continuous operational feedback; and delivering strategic progress updates and risk assessments to executive leadership.
Ideal candidates possess a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field, combined with 5+ years of elite project/program management experience leading complex, multi-faceted lifecycles and managing cross-functional technical teams (PMP, Agile/Scrum, or equivalent preferred). Prior exposure to robotics systems, autonomous vehicles, computer vision pipelines, or hardware-in-the-loop environments is essential. Strong first-principles problem-solving skills, operational resilience, and an entrepreneurial, founder-level mindset are critical. Readiness to travel internationally (10-20%) to audit and optimize localized collection infrastructure is required.
Nice-to-haves include hands-on experience with spatial computing, egocentric vision systems, sensor fusion (LiDAR/IMU/Camera), or AI data curation; experience managing distributed global operations across multiple time zones; background in high-growth startups or elite technology consulting; and proficiency in SQL and data visualization tools (Tableau, Looker) to independently audit program health.
