Asymmetric Research is a specialized security firm focused on long-term, integrated partnerships with L1/L2 blockchains and DeFi protocols. The company helps teams build resilient systems, strengthen security posture, and proactively address emerging threats.
You will serve as a Strategic Partnerships Manager on the business development team, responsible for identifying and closing partnerships with crypto/AI builders and positioning Asymmetric Research as the security and infrastructure partner of choice.
Key responsibilities include:
- Identifying and prioritizing prospects across established protocols, exchanges, L1/L2 teams, fintechs, and AI companies
- Attending conferences, meetups, dinners, and other in-market events to build relationships with decision-makers
- Running full-cycle deals: outreach, scoping conversations, working with internal teams to size engagements, and closing
- Making compelling, persuasive cases for why security should be a priority
- Using market signals (funding rounds, product launches, upgrades) to reach teams before they seek security partners proactively
The role is based in New York with occasional office time at 1 World Trade Center for team and client meetings. Travel is expected 20-40% as deals and events require.
The company is a 50+ person team with a flat hierarchy, offering autonomy to define the role and shape strategy rather than following a heavily scripted playbook.
Requirements:
- Strong enterprise sales experience: 1-2+ years closing complex, larger deals (this is prioritized over web3, AI, or security background)
- Genuinely persuasive communicator comfortable making cases to skeptical, sophisticated buyers and changing their minds
- Strong market instincts: ability to read markets and know where to be, not just who to call
- NYC-based and in-market: must live in the NYC area and work the ground game in person, including meetings, events, and dinners
- Self-directed: comfortable working in a flat hierarchy with trust and autonomy
Good to have (not required):
- Existing relationships with funds, exchanges, or protocol teams
- Prior exposure to crypto, artificial intelligence, security, or technical sales
