Plaid is seeking a Strategic Partnerships Manager to build and manage external data partnerships that power Plaid's Credit products. Plaid powers financial connectivity for millions of users across thousands of companies including Venmo, SoFi, Fortune 500 firms, and major banks. The company's network covers 12,000 financial institutions across the US, Canada, UK, and Europe.
Plaid's Credit team is building the future of lending by making cash flow data as widely used and trusted as traditional credit data. The mission is to expand access to more affordable credit by giving lenders real-time financial insights that improve risk assessment and decision-making at scale.
In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of external data partnerships, from market mapping and sourcing through diligence, structuring, negotiation, and execution. You will identify and prioritize partners across a broad ecosystem including traditional credit data providers, alternative data providers, financial infrastructure companies, and other differentiated data sources. Working closely with Product and Engineering teams, you will translate product needs into partnership opportunities, develop creative commercial structures, and negotiate complex agreements that balance product, economic, and strategic considerations. You will also drive partner growth from initial integration through scaled usage, continually identifying opportunities to expand their impact.
Key responsibilities include: developing data strategy to identify and prioritize external partnerships that improve Credit products and roadmap; collaborating with Product and Engineering on complex data and integration topics; leading deal execution across the full partnership lifecycle; and growing partnerships to maximize their impact and usage.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of professional experience, including 4+ years in data partnerships, product partnerships, business development, or related field
- Experience working in financial services, fintech, credit, or data businesses
- Track record of sourcing, structuring, and negotiating complex strategic and commercial partnerships
- Strong product orientation and ability to work closely with technical teams on complex data and integration topics
- Strategic mindset with ability to build a broader partner ecosystem, not just execute individual deals
- Excitement about using differentiated data to improve lending decisions and expand access to credit
- Demonstrated ability to succeed in dynamic, high-growth environments where roles and processes are still being defined
