Miter is a fast-growing vertical SaaS company on a mission to modernize construction and field services operations. Miter uses AI and embedded payments to rebuild core HR, finance, and operations systems for construction contractors.
As a Strategic Finance Generalist, you'll join a small, high-leverage finance team reporting directly to the Head of Finance. This is a multi-faceted role that combines strategic financial planning, operational rigor, and analytical problem-solving.
Key responsibilities include: building and improving budgets, forecasts, and operating models that drive company decision-making; partnering with functional leaders to track KPIs and translate performance data into actionable insights; managing procurement and vendor workflows, supporting month-end close processes, and improving finance systems and processes; tackling diverse business problems such as evaluating hiring plans, analyzing marketing efficiency, and building self-serve dashboards; and identifying opportunities to automate workflows and eliminate manual work through AI, better systems design, and process improvement.
You'll work cross-functionally across the organization, context-switching between strategic and operational work. The role requires strong financial modeling skills, comfort with business data and analytics tools (SQL or BI tool experience is a plus), and demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools and automation. You should be a structured problem-solver with systems-thinking instincts, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to distill complexity into clear recommendations.
The company operates on a hybrid model with 3 days per week in the San Francisco office, offering flexibility while maintaining in-person collaboration and relationship-building.
