Check is rebuilding payroll infrastructure by powering embedded payroll solutions for businesses of all sizes. The Finance and Business Operations team drives strategic decision-making through data, analysis, and operational insight.
As a Strategic Finance Associate, you will own Check's financial model (revenue and cost drivers), support annual and quarterly planning cycles, and deliver ad-hoc analyses to leadership on topics like product pricing, cost optimization, and capital allocation. You'll prepare Board presentations, support investor updates, and assist with fundraising and vendor negotiations. A core part of the role involves leveraging AI tools and agents to accelerate analysis and reporting workflows.
The ideal candidate combines strong financial modeling and analytical skills with the ability to distill complex issues into structured frameworks. You should have 3+ years of work experience, including at least 2 years in investment banking or a similar analytical role. Familiarity with AI tools is expected. Bonus qualifications include fintech/payments experience, SQL proficiency, prior Strategic Finance or Business Operations roles, and exposure to high-growth tech startups.
Check is distributed across the US with offices in New York City and San Francisco. This role is fully remote but requires reliable communication, productivity, and the ability to work without distraction. The team gathers for an annual spring retreat and regular offsites throughout the year.
