Salary: USD 120,000 - 160,000 / annual
Axial is a profitable, founder-led online M&A platform connecting buyers and sellers of $5M–$100M privately held companies. With 4,000+ acquirers and 3,000+ M&A advisors using the platform, Axial processed over 12,500 private company exits in 2025. The company is based in Manhattan with a hybrid culture and ~55 employees.
You'll join as Strategic Finance Associate, reporting to the VP of Finance and working directly with the CEO and leadership team. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports, but significant scope and influence across the organization.
Key responsibilities include:
**Planning & Forecasting:** Rebuild and manage driver-based operating and financial models to serve as decision-making tools. Own the annual budget and quarterly reforecasts.
**Performance Analysis:** Lead monthly performance reviews, synthesizing data into actionable insights and cohesive narratives for leadership.
**Unit Economics:** Develop LTV/CAC models and contribution margin analysis to guide resource allocation and build shared understanding of the business model.
**FP&A Infrastructure & Automation:** Maintain models, dashboards, and reporting architecture while leveraging AI workflows and agents to automate recurring financial analysis.
**GTM & Commercial Finance:** Partner with Go-To-Market leadership to drive growth strategy, set quarterly goals, and evaluate performance.
**Strategic Projects:** Lead analysis on major decisions including pricing strategy, capital structure scenarios, and build vs. buy evaluations.
**Presentations:** Prepare materials for quarterly company-wide presentations and external business development decks.
You'll work closely with the VP of Finance (your manager), the accounting team, and business operations. The finance function spans finance, accounting, revenue operations, HR, and legal.
Required qualifications: 2–5 years in investment banking, private equity, consulting, corporate development, strategic finance, or FP&A. Strong three-statement, driver-based, and scenario modeling skills. Demonstrated ability to structure ambiguous problems and extract actionable insights from data. Clear communication skills calibrated to different audiences. Proficiency with LLMs and AI agents to automate meaningful work. Proactive, organized, and dependable with consistent follow-through.
Compensation: $120,000–$160,000 plus equity. In-office 3 days per week (Tues–Thurs) at the modern Manhattan office (30th and Park). Benefits include nearly 100% company-paid medical/dental/vision, 401(k), flexible vacation, paid parental leave, and monthly health & wellness stipend.
