Formlabs is seeking an entrepreneurial leader to act as a mini-CEO, identifying, developing, and scaling new product lines and ventures within the company. You will operate with full ownership over outcomes, spanning the entire product lifecycle from R&D through global-scale manufacturing across hardware, software, materials science, and business functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Define product strategy and vision by identifying unmet user needs and market gaps in digital manufacturing
- Own P&L results by driving new market opportunities and scaling existing business units
- Build and lead multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, operators, and designers; hire and mentor future leaders
- Make high-stakes decisions that directly impact core technology and business trajectory
- Work across engineering, sales, manufacturing, and marketing to execute end-to-end
Formlabs powers innovation at 50,000+ industry leaders worldwide, including Apple, Google, Tesla, New Balance, and NASA. The company is reinventing how the world manufactures physical products through 3D printing technology.
You will thrive in a high-ambiguity environment where bias for action, comfort with complexity, and deep ownership are valued. The role demands a "get it done" mindset—willingness to pitch customers, set up supply chains, debug prototypes, and do whatever it takes to succeed.
Requirements:
- Proven entrepreneurial experience: previously built a business or significant venture (technology startup experience strongly preferred)
- Direct experience creating multi-disciplinary technology products and understanding the full lifecycle from ideation to scale
- Demonstrated high tolerance for risk and bias for action
- Proven ability to hire, lead, and mentor teams in fast-changing, high-standard environments
- Tinkerer or ex-co-founder mindset; comfort with breadth across disciplines
Bonus qualifications:
- Degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Founding experience
- MBA or consulting background
- Familiarity with manufacturing, regulatory, or product standards in healthcare, pharma, or life sciences
- Experience with 3D printing technologies and materials
- Tableau or SQL proficiency
