The Screenings & Verifications organization develops and delivers screening and verification products that power informed risk assessments. These products span criminal history checks, driving records, employment verifications, and more across diverse industries and regulated markets.
As a Staff Engineer, you will operate across multiple product engineering teams, driving the technical architecture of complex, multi-system workflows. You'll define how screening products are structured, how they integrate with candidate-facing systems and vendor data pipelines, and establish repeatable patterns that accelerate the entire organization. You'll set and raise the technical bar through hands-on work, architecture leadership, and cross-team influence.
Key responsibilities include owning product development from ideation through release; bringing a customer-centric, product-first mindset to collaborate with Design, Product, and Data teams; defining and leading technical initiatives to enable growth and address technical debt; mentoring engineers across the organization; spreading development best practices; partnering with management on planning; and ensuring quality, reliability, and scalability of services.
You bring 10+ years of software development experience with 3+ years in a project leadership role. Deep expertise in backend development (Ruby, Node.js, or similar) with working proficiency in frontend technologies (JavaScript, React) is required. You have proven ability building scalable systems with automated testing, observability, and high performance. You demonstrate strong ownership from design through production, effective collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders, excellent communication and project management skills, and commitment to mentoring. An A-player mindset with bias for action, raising the bar, moving with urgency, and staying resilient through ambiguity is essential.
