Airwallex is a unified payments and financial platform serving over 250,000 global businesses. As a Senior Database Administrator based in Seoul, you will be critical to supporting the database infrastructure that powers the company's cross-border payment products and core financial operations.
You will be responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing database environments across Alibaba Cloud and Google Cloud platforms. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing automated scripts for database instance and table management, planning and maintaining backup and recovery systems, and formulating database specifications and governance policies. You will research and design database monitoring systems and middleware to rapidly identify and resolve performance issues, ensuring database consistency and high availability across global operations.
You will actively collaborate with business departments to promote database best practices, design scalable database architectures aligned with business needs, and continuously improve system efficiency. This role requires deep expertise in PostgreSQL high availability, cluster management, and pgpool-II middleware, as well as proficiency in Redis/Redis Cluster management. You should be comfortable with Linux systems, shell scripting, and at least one programming language.
The ideal candidate brings 3+ years of experience in database administration within the internet/tech industry, with a track record of managing large database clusters and designing relational database systems. Strong problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and a rigorous, responsible approach to database operations are essential. Experience with distributed databases, Kafka/Elasticsearch integration, SSD optimization, container management, and infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Puppet, Salt, Terraform) is highly valued.
