ServiceNow is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join the AI Search UX team, responsible for building next-generation cognitive search and machine learning-based relevancy features in the ServiceNow cloud platform. This role combines full-stack software development with quality assurance ownership, requiring you to drive excellence across the entire software development lifecycle.
You will own the design and implementation of high-quality, scalable product features for AI-powered search functionality used by Fortune 500 companies. Key responsibilities include building clean, reusable code using Java and modern front-end frameworks (Angular, React, Vue); creating and maintaining search-related UI components, Client Scripts, Business Rules, and GraphQL/Java APIs; developing analytics dashboards with database schema design; and building an intuitive admin UI for innovative search and ML capabilities.
On the quality side, you will own comprehensive test automation from design through delivery, creating and maintaining test scripts using Java, Jenkins, JUnit, Playwright, and Selenium. You'll design end-to-end test plans, contribute to QA process improvements, and ensure production readiness across the stack.
You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, participate in Agile SCRUM ceremonies, contribute to cross-team technical discussions, and work with other teams to manage cross-product dependencies. This is a high-impact role where you'll apply critical thinking about AI integration into work processes and leverage AI-powered tools to enhance your own development workflow.
Required: 8+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of delivering high-quality products. Proficiency in Python, Java, or similar OO languages; modern front-end frameworks; strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and performance optimization; familiarity with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD integration; understanding of software quality principles; ability to troubleshoot complex systems; experience with AI-powered tools and workflows; and comfort with development tools (IDEs, debuggers, profilers, source control, Unix systems).
