ARX Robotics, a European defense tech company specializing in autonomous unmanned systems, is seeking a Staff Robotics Data Engineer to join their Data & Simulation team in Munich. This is a high-impact technical leadership role where you will architect the central data infrastructure that powers autonomous robot development and validation.
You will own the technical vision and design of data systems connecting fleet operations, telemetry, and automated validation. Your responsibilities include building scalable, multi-stage pipelines that transform raw robotics data from sensors, logs, and simulations into synchronized, analysis-ready datasets. You will establish core standards for data quality, schemas, and lineage to ensure engineering decisions rest on a foundation of trust.
A key deliverable is a sophisticated metrics engine that translates complex system requirements into computable, automated validation rules for time-series and event-based data. You will create reusable frameworks enabling teams to evaluate system performance and detect violations across vehicles, software versions, and test campaigns. Your work directly fuels advanced autonomy, simulation, and machine learning workflows.
Beyond technical execution, you will establish a culture of data excellence by mentoring other engineers and setting best practices across the organization.
Required experience includes building and operating data-intensive software systems, strong programming in Python and/or C++, and hands-on work with large-scale complex data such as time-series, telemetry, or sensor data. You should have a track record designing multi-stage data pipelines with focus on quality, synchronization, and reproducibility. Understanding of robotics-specific data challenges (timestamps, sampling, coordinate frames, event correlation) is valuable. Experience with distributed or cloud-based data processing systems is expected. You will collaborate closely with robotics, autonomy, systems, and platform engineering teams. Professional English fluency is required.
ARX offers competitive compensation with bonus, 27-30 vacation days, employer pension contributions, learning and development support, hybrid flexibility, structured salary bands, and relocation support.
