Adyen is a global fintech platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. This Senior Data Engineer role focuses on building best-in-class data infrastructure for the payments domain.
You will be responsible for designing, developing, and operating high-quality production ELT pipelines and data architectures that integrate data from multiple sources while ensuring compatibility, consistency, and reliability. Key responsibilities include collaborative solution development with data scientists, analysts, software engineers, product managers, and customers to understand requirements and craft effective solutions.
You will champion data best practices across Adyen through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing, establishing standards for performance, code quality, data validation, data governance, and discoverability. The role emphasizes high-quality data and code delivery, implementing rigorous testing, monitoring, and validation protocols using tools like Pytest. You will identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in data pipelines and systems, optimizing query performance and resource utilization to meet SLAs using technologies such as caching, indexing, partitioning, and Spark optimizations.
Required qualifications include 8+ years of experience building robust, scalable data environments, fluency in English and Portuguese, and proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL, Airflow, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, and Git. The role requires 3 days per week on-site in São José dos Campos, with relocation support available for candidates within 70km. Experience with payments industry knowledge and Brazilian market specifics is highly desirable.
