LiveKit is seeking a Staff Product Manager to own the Telephony product—the infrastructure enabling AI agents to make and receive calls on the global phone network. This is the first PM hire for this critical business unit, which already powers production call volume for enterprises in call centers, customer support, healthcare triage, outbound sales, and appointment scheduling. You will shape the roadmap across two product pillars: SIP trunking (where enterprises bring their own carriers and phone systems) and LiveKit Phone Numbers (the native offering with direct carrier relationships). The role spans strategy, customer discovery, technical decision-making, and business economics. You'll work closely with engineering leaders to decide what gets built and when, ensuring the platform delivers the fastest and best-sounding connection for agents globally. Key responsibilities include: owning the telephony roadmap and establishing clear product direction; managing SIP compatibility decisions to simplify enterprise integrations; expanding LiveKit Phone Numbers beyond the US with proper regulatory and carrier footing; conducting deep customer research to understand production workflows and failure modes; and owning pricing, packaging, and margin optimization as volume scales. You bring 8+ years of product management experience at senior or staff level, with substantial background in developer-facing products. You have technical depth in protocols, media paths, latency, call quality, and failure modes—enough to earn engineer trust without necessarily coding. You've owned products where uptime and reliability were core, and you're comfortable in domains where failure is immediate and visible. You influence through clarity and judgment, communicate across technical and strategic contexts, and are obsessed with customer needs and product polish. Nice-to-have experience includes building telephony, CPaaS, or SIP products; familiarity with voice protocols and codecs; carrier interconnect and telecom regulation knowledge; background in developer tools or communications companies; and exposure to voice AI or contact center platforms. The role is based in LiveKit's SF headquarters with a remote option available. You'll join a small, high-leverage PM team at a fast-growing company backed by major customers including OpenAI, xAI, Salesforce, Coursera, and Spotify.
