Skydio is the world leader in autonomous flight technology for drones used in defense, public safety, and enterprise applications. The company is seeking a Staff Product Manager for Telecommunications to spearhead strategic partnerships with leading telecom carriers, ensuring Skydio drones can operate with reliable connectivity wherever customers need them. In this role, you will develop and execute the company's strategy for engaging with telecom carriers, deepening existing relationships while expanding the ecosystem to new partners across the US, North America, and internationally. You'll translate customer connectivity needs into negotiated agreements with carriers that provide network access, sufficient data bandwidth, and sustainable business partnerships. Key responsibilities include: building business models for in-flight data access and monitoring usage/costs to validate them; setting regulatory and telecom carrier certification priorities to ensure drones meet standards; advocating for customer connectivity needs by providing simple, easy-to-use connectivity options from initial device setup; building field relationships between telecom partners and Skydio's field teams to support major events and incidents; and assisting with mission-critical customer support during major incidents. You should have a demonstrated track record of translating customer needs into priorities and driving implementation—whether through complex implementation projects, product building, or business relationship development. You must be comfortable with complexity, breaking down multifaceted challenges into meaningful steps and communicating progress across both internal and partner organizations. Strong analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple complex projects with overlapping deadlines, and a technical background (engineering degree, computer science, telecommunications, or equivalent work experience managing complex technical requirements) are essential. Nice-to-haves include experience at growth-stage startups, familiarity with wireless communication (bit rates, QoS, large-scale network operations), prior work in telecommunications (at carriers like AT&T/Verizon/T-Mobile or suppliers like Cisco/Nokia/Ericsson), and interest in applying 5G features (dynamic slicing, high-reliability low-latency communications, radio resource management) to airborne devices. This is a full-time, in-office position requiring 5 days per week onsite at Skydio's headquarters in San Mateo, CA.
