Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Product Manager for OpenTelemetry Experience to own the end-to-end journey of helping users and AI agents instrument workloads and send OpenTelemetry data to Grafana Cloud. This is a high-impact role focused on making Grafana Cloud the easiest and most trusted destination for OpenTelemetry workloads.
You will reduce complexity and failure points users encounter from deciding to adopt OpenTelemetry through receiving healthy, correctly attributed, and actionable telemetry. Your scope spans multiple instrumentation paths: OpenTelemetry SDKs, automatic instrumentation (Beyla, SDK injection), and client-side Collectors. You'll design coherent experiences that help users choose the right approach, complete setup successfully, troubleshoot problems, and validate telemetry health.
A key aspect of this role is treating AI coding agents as first-class participants in the instrumentation experience. You'll ensure instrumentation options, configuration requirements, errors, and validation signals are structured, discoverable, and actionable by both humans and machines.
Your responsibilities include: defining SDK onboarding and configuration experiences; designing automatic instrumentation workflows; managing Collector deployment and connectivity; creating guidance and machine-readable context for approach selection; building workflows for agents to implement and verify instrumentation safely; troubleshooting telemetry quality issues; establishing validation signals for health confirmation; and orchestrating the transition from data receipt to activating Grafana Cloud observability solutions.
Success extends beyond the first data point—telemetry must arrive with the quality, context, and structure needed for meaningful observability outcomes. You'll partner closely with engineering, design, UX, and go-to-market teams across a fully remote, globally distributed organization. Strong communication, technical proficiency, and the ability to bridge multiple stakeholder groups are essential.
