Datadog is seeking a Staff Product Manager to own the vision, narrative, and roadmap for Bits Release, an early-stage product that automates code validation and release management across the entire software delivery lifecycle. Bits Release combines Datadog's production observability signals with AI-driven capabilities like automated testing and live debugging to help teams ship at the speed their AI coding agents write code.
In this role, you will:
- Own the complete product strategy for Bits Release, from pre-merge code review through continuous production validation, defining how the product evolves as AI agents reshape software delivery.
- Partner closely with customers, engineering teams, and design to build a developer experience that earns trust and seamlessly integrates into existing workflows.
- Drive critical business decisions around packaging and pricing models (consumption-based vs. platform capability) in collaboration with finance and product leadership.
- Treat agent quality as the core product: own evaluation frameworks, reliability targets, and KPIs that prove Bits Release delivers value at scale.
- Work alongside senior engineers to stay current with the AI frontier, maintain strong technical opinions, and remain deeply connected to customer needs.
- Collaborate with product marketing, developer advocacy, and sales to transition Bits Release from preview to general availability with compelling narratives for both SREs and developers.
You bring 6+ years of product management experience (or 4+ years with deep technical background), with substantial time building developer tools, CI/CD systems, observability platforms, or SRE/platform products. You have shipped LLM or agentic products and understand evaluation frameworks, debugging nondeterministic systems, and production cost/latency/quality tradeoffs. You use AI coding agents daily and hold strong convictions about the future of software release practices. You have deep fluency in the software development lifecycle—PR workflows, CI systems, deployment strategies, and production signals. You excel in ambiguous problem spaces and communicate exceptionally well, both in writing and to executive audiences.
Bonus qualifications include software engineering, SRE, or platform engineering background; experience with sandboxed code execution, test generation, or replay systems; and familiarity with product analytics, session replays, APM, or RUM.
