Bobyard is automating construction takeoff with AI-powered computer vision and NLP. The construction industry—a trillion-dollar market—still relies heavily on manual processes, PDFs, and rulers. The biggest bottleneck is cost estimation: estimators spend days manually counting materials from drawings, and errors are expensive. Bobyard has raised $35M in Series A funding (backed by 8VC, Primary, and Pear) and is expanding from core takeoff into the broader pre-construction workflow.
You will join as Staff Product Manager, a senior individual contributor role with company-level scope. Over the next 2–3 years, you will define product direction, make hard tradeoffs, and raise the bar for how product is built at Bobyard.
Key responsibilities:
- Own product strategy across multiple surfaces. Set the multi-year vision for takeoff and adjacent pre-construction workflows, and translate it into an executable roadmap.
- Become one of the deepest customer experts in the building. Build lasting relationships with estimators, project managers, and general contractors across segments. Turn customer insights into conviction about market direction, not just feature requests.
- Lead 0→1 initiatives from thesis to scale. Identify new product opportunities, size them, make the business case to leadership, and drive them from first prototype to repeatable revenue.
- Shape the AI product experience. Partner with ML and engineering leads to decide where models should automate, where humans stay in the loop, and how to measure accuracy and trust.
- Drive cross-functional alignment at the leadership level. Work with engineering, design, sales, marketing, and customer success leadership on positioning, pricing, packaging, and launch strategy.
- Raise the product bar. Define how the team writes specs, prioritizes, measures outcomes, and runs discovery. Mentor other PMs and help scale the product function as the company grows.
You will work directly with a small, hands-on team in a full-time, in-person role in San Francisco.
Requirements:
- 7+ years in product management, with a track record of owning strategy for a product or product line (not just features)
- Shipped at least one 0→1 product that found real customer traction
- Experience building AI/ML-driven products, or B2B software for complex, workflow-heavy users
- Strong judgment under ambiguity: you make the call, explain the reasoning, and adjust fast when data changes
- Ability to synthesize input from customers, sales, and engineering into a clear, defensible plan and get senior stakeholders behind it
- Fast learner. No construction background required, but you must become a domain expert quickly
- Experience mentoring PMs or helping build product practices on a growing team
