PhotoRoom is seeking a Staff Product Manager to own the AI platform that powers every product feature across the company. Founded in 2019 and part of Y Combinator's 2020 cohort, PhotoRoom is the leading visual solution for e-commerce, serving 300+ million users worldwide and processing over 5 billion images annually for clients including Amazon, DoorDash, and Decathlon.
In this role, you will:
- Own the AI platform and gateway that all AI features run through, expanding and improving safeguards, evals, cost tracking, and observability to enable teams to ship with minimal code.
- Build the agentic layer and PhotoRoom's Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling visual agents to run multi-step workflows (generate, QA, route, retry, publish) unattended at scale.
- Define problems before solutions, partnering with engineering and research teams to ship work that feels effortless for both internal developers and end users.
- Treat other product teams as customers, prioritizing across their roadmaps, maintaining a clear strategy, and making principled trade-off decisions.
- Convert new AI model capabilities into shipped features that drive usage and revenue, turning them into reusable primitives for other teams.
- Use data to drive decisions: pull and interpret adoption metrics, latency, inference cost per successful generation, and eval results to form hypotheses and guide what ships next.
You will work in a 100+ person team focused on craft, innovation, and collaboration. The role offers high autonomy, operates in a remote-async-first environment, and requires you to ship without heavy management overhead.
Benefits include 25 days PTO plus 8–10 RTT, competitive equity with stock options/BSPCE, €1,000 one-time home office grant or €400/month co-working stipend, €1,000 annual L&D budget, private health insurance, mental health support via MokaCare, sports/cultural reimbursement, and relocation support up to €10k for those moving to France.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years as a Product Manager with multiple launches where you solved user problems and delivered business outcomes.
- Proven experience building platform, infrastructure, or developer-facing products (APIs, SDKs, internal platforms, ML infrastructure).
- Shipped agentic or model-backed systems into production; deep understanding of evals, guardrails, non-deterministic output, cost per call, and multi-step flow reliability at scale.
- Daily use of Claude or equivalent AI tools for prototyping, user testing, and job automation.
- Demonstrable product taste with specific examples of work where details matter; ability to explain decisions made and reflect on what you'd do differently.
- Ability to create clarity from ambiguity: structure fuzzy problems, decide what matters, and move without waiting for direction.
- Data fluency: pull, interpret, and challenge data yourself; use data to form a point of view rather than confirm existing assumptions.
- Thrive in small, high-autonomy teams; comfortable operating in remote, async-first environments with minimal scaffolding.
