Taptap Send is a cross-border fintech platform serving emerging markets, enabling families and diaspora communities to access financial services across 6 continents. Founded in 2019 by Harvard graduates and serial entrepreneurs (Segovia, GiveDirectly), the company is backed by top-tier investors including Spark Capital, Canaan, and Reid Hoffman, with a global team of 250+ people across 50+ nationalities. You will serve as Staff Product Designer, setting the visual and experiential direction for a global brand used across more than 70 markets. This is a high-impact role with unusual latitude to shape how Taptap Send looks and feels, with direct proximity to company-trajectory decisions. Key responsibilities: - Own brand and visual evolution: push the identity toward something distinct and memorable while maintaining trust and clarity for users completing important financial tasks. - Expand and own the design system: transform the component library into real infrastructure including design tokens, motion systems, content patterns, and documentation that enables consistent shipping across mobile, web, and internal tools. - Lead new product offerings: take rough hypotheses for new surfaces and business lines through to shipped products with measurable customer and business impact. - Set the craft standard: define what great looks like, make the call on when work is genuinely done, and raise the bar for a growing design team. - Collaborate across product, engineering, growth, compliance, and go-to-market in a fast-moving, ownership-driven culture. You'll define design direction for a brand reaching four continents, see decisions reach customers within weeks rather than quarters, and use AI tooling (LLM-assisted prototyping, code editors, component generation) to compress the distance between idea and reality. Requirements: - Portfolio demonstrating range and depth: consumer mobile products taken from ambiguity to launch, plus evidence of systems thinking (not just screens, but underlying structure). - Mastery of craft fundamentals: visual hierarchy, typography, content strategy, micro-animation, information architecture. - Comfort with AI tools as design infrastructure: LLM-assisted prototyping, code editors, component generation, workflow automation, with clear perspective on where they increase velocity versus produce plausible-looking work that fails in details. - Ability to sweat details while knowing which to trade away: pixel-perfect where it matters, pragmatic where it doesn't. - Deep care for customers: either lived experience with remittance/diaspora financial needs or demonstrated commitment to understanding use cases and centering them in system design. - Seniority and influence: comfortable being the most senior designer in the room, influencing roadmaps through evidence, prototypes, and shipped artifacts rather than authority. - Plus: experience in fintech, marketplaces, or other high-trust consumer categories.
