Salary: GBP 121,200 - 151,200 / annual
Fanatics Betting & Gaming is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team across UK and Ireland offices (Dublin, Galway, Leeds, London). This is a senior individual contributor role with significant technical leadership scope, operating with high autonomy to drive platform initiatives across the EMEA region while partnering with teams globally.
You will lead the design and delivery of core platform capabilities spanning cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, observability, CI/CD systems, and internal developer tooling. Key responsibilities include architecting and operating cloud-native platforms on AWS with focus on reliability, security, scalability, and cost efficiency; evolving CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows; building internal platform services that improve developer experience and delivery velocity; driving Infrastructure as Code and automation practices; partnering with application teams to unblock delivery; leading complex cross-team initiatives; improving operational excellence through observability and automation; and mentoring engineers while participating in on-call rotations.
Required qualifications: 8+ years in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or software engineering; proficiency in Python and Java (Kotlin/Go a plus); deep Kubernetes and container orchestration knowledge; proven CI/CD and GitOps experience; Infrastructure as Code expertise with Terraform; strong AWS and cloud-native experience; experience operating distributed, high-availability systems; ability to influence without authority and communicate effectively across regions.
Nice-to-have skills include internal developer platform experience, FinOps or cloud cost management, regulated or high-availability environment experience, backend development background, and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools.
