Apex manufactures satellite buses (spacecraft platforms) at scale for commercial and government customers. As a Staff Mission Manager, you will lead complex customer missions through the satellite bus development and delivery lifecycle, serving as the senior customer interface and driving execution across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, mission services, and other cross-functional teams.
You will own communication, alignment, and execution for high-priority, strategically important missions. Key responsibilities include establishing and managing integrated mission schedules, milestones, and deliverables; proactively identifying and mitigating mission-level risks and technical challenges; translating complex technical information into clear customer communication; and driving alignment across stakeholders in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments.
Beyond individual mission leadership, you will help shape how Apex manages missions at scale by establishing best practices, mentoring other Mission Managers, and driving improvements to mission execution processes. This role requires high autonomy, strong technical judgment, and the ability to navigate complex customer and cross-functional challenges while maintaining execution standards.
Required qualifications: U.S. Person status (export control access), Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field, 10+ years in technical program/project/mission/systems management (preferably space, aerospace, or defense), PMP/CAPM or equivalent certification, and demonstrated experience leading complex, technically sophisticated programs. Active Top Secret or Top Secret/SCI clearance is desired but not required. You must have proven ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority, strong understanding of satellite technology and spacecraft systems, exceptional customer and stakeholder management skills, and demonstrated leadership through influence and mentoring.
