Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building Arsenal-1, a hyperscale autonomous systems and weapons manufacturing facility south of Columbus, Ohio. As Staff Metrology Engineer, you will establish the dimensional metrology lab from the ground up, setting technical direction for precision measurement processes critical to defense manufacturing quality.
You will be the hands-on measurement authority for the site, responsible for equipment selection, lab layout, environmental controls, fixturing, calibration programs, and gage management systems. Early in the role, you'll collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to integrate metrology for real-time verification and quality control throughout production.
Key responsibilities include: standing up the dimensional metrology lab with audit-ready calibration and gage management programs; serving as technical authority on dimensional measurement, writing and validating inspection programs; performing First Article Inspection (FAI) and measurement system analysis (MSA/Gage R&R); owning GD&T standards and best practices; and integrating 3D scanning and optical metrology into Anduril's digital and autonomous production systems.
As the lab grows, the role will evolve into formal people management, with Metrology Technicians and Specialists reporting to you. You'll be responsible for hiring, growing, and mentoring a technical team while maintaining hands-on expertise in precision measurement. The ideal candidate combines deep expertise in precision measurement systems with the ability to build and lead a technical organization from inception.
