Salary: USD 196,000 - 257,000 / annual
Skydio is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Test Engineer to lead manufacturing test strategy and execution for autonomous drone systems. This is a hands-on technical role bridging manufacturing and engineering organizations, responsible for end-to-end test readiness across product lines.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning manufacturing test readiness for entire product lines, ensuring high-quality devices reach customers
- Designing and implementing test equipment (in-house and third-party) to enable scalable, reliable manufacturing automation
- Collaborating cross-functionally with product development, manufacturing operations, and software teams to define test requirements and iteratively improve test sequences
- Leading root-cause investigations using Skydio's manufacturing execution system (MES) to analyze factory data and resolve production issues
- Maintaining software quality through code reviews and hardware-in-loop continuous integration
- Identifying process improvements to eliminate waste, increase speed, reliability, and scalability while reducing manual dependencies
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years engineering experience in manufacturing environments, with 5+ years in NPI (new product introduction) test development
- Strong hands-on Python coding for test automation and process tooling
- Experience defining testing frameworks and strategies for new products, working collaboratively with cross-functional partners
- Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed root-cause and failure analysis
- Creative problem-solving mindset with practical solution orientation
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across hardware, software, and operations teams
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, growth-stage environments while balancing execution with scalability
