Charm Industrial is seeking a Staff Industrial Site Development Engineer to lead the engineering, layout, and physical integration of production facilities for carbon removal operations. This role serves as the engineering owner for the physical design of Charm's industrial sites, transforming process concepts into safe, maintainable, constructible, and scalable operating facilities.
You will work across nearly every engineering discipline, partnering with Process Development, Mechanical Engineering, Civil & Structural Engineering, Facilities, Construction, Operations, Procurement, EPC contractors, equipment vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure each facility functions as an integrated system. Rather than owning a single process, you will own how the entire facility comes together.
From concept development through commissioning, you will make critical engineering decisions regarding equipment placement, utilities, site infrastructure, constructability, maintenance access, traffic flow, regulatory compliance, and future expansion. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading multidisciplinary industrial design challenges
- Coordinating with internal teams and external contractors on facility design and integration
- Ensuring regulatory compliance and safety standards
- Planning for scalability and future expansion
- Managing the transition from concept to operational facility
Charm's mission is to return atmospheric CO₂ to 280 ppm by converting excess inedible biomass into carbon-rich bio-oil for permanent underground storage. The company has scaled to thousands of tons of carbon removal, grown to over 100 employees, and operates three locations in San Francisco, Colorado, and Louisiana.
