Altana is an AI-powered supply chain intelligence platform used by governments, Fortune 500 companies, and critical infrastructure operators to build resilient, secure, and sustainable global trade networks. The company applies advanced AI to the world's largest organized body of supply chain data, serving customers including Lloyd's, Maersk, multiple government agencies across the US, UK, EU, Singapore, and Australia, General Atomics, and Boston Scientific.
The Platform Operations & Compliance team integrates Altana's products with customers, executing complex data pipeline customizations, integrating proprietary customer data into the knowledge graph, and managing big-data operations for public sector customers with stringent reliability, cost, and control requirements.
As Staff Implementations Data Engineer, you will develop, deploy, and continuously improve distributed big-data pipelines powering Altana's network analysis, ML, data ingestion, and fusion capabilities. You'll serve as a technical expert in client-facing meetings, bridging complex government requirements with platform architecture. You'll drive scalability improvements, support platform reliability and cost optimization, assist with customer security reviews and accreditations, and work cross-functionally with engineers, data scientists, and product managers.
Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining complex data models from diverse sources and schemas, leading the full lifecycle of data ingestion and standardization pipelines at scale, deploying solutions across client cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure), mentoring other engineers on complex projects, and evaluating new tools and best practices for data pipeline development and orchestration.
You bring 8+ years of data engineering experience, deep expertise in building and scaling data systems, and a track record of leading end-to-end data solutions. You have hands-on skills in cloud deployment (EC2, S3, IAM, Docker microservices), data security and governance, and sustainable software development. You're eligible for or hold UK Security Check (SC) clearance, communicate effectively with external stakeholders, and stay current with data engineering trends. Nice-to-haves include data platform management experience, ML pipeline deployment expertise, supply chain or trade compliance background, and public sector experience.
